It's been busy since I returned from Northumberland to Leeds for a music-filled week. With an exciting project fast approaching, I've decided to document the process and share it with you all, so here it is! A week with me as the journey begins.
Being in Leeds always fuels my creativity and motivates me to continue working on my music. Maybe it's the fast-paced city lifestyle that keeps me going....or the ever growing realisation that I've graduated and am now a real life adult who has to work her socks off if she wants to achieve her goals.
That sounds about right...
After enjoying a couple of chilled days and numerous delightful sunsets, it was time to knuckle down and rehearse with the band. On Wednesday evening we headed to Pirate Studios in Leeds to rehearse 'The Fall' for our live session the following day.
It's always so refreshing to rehearse with these guys - it was amazing to get back into a rehearsal room with a bunch of such dedicated & talented musicians, thanks for your never-ending support guys x
'The Fall' was a song I began writing back in November, and it's a really therapeutic and personal song for me. The band have done a phenomenal job of bringing all of the feelings crammed into this song to life, and have (potentially unknowingly) helped me to release a lot of pent up emotions. Music is a bit like free therapy I suppose, haha!
The live session was done at Leeds College of Music by the incredible Olivia Ferrara and Chris Milnes, and will be released very soon so keep your eyes peeled for that! It was a fab afternoon, and I can't wait to see the finished result :)
I also released a sneak peek at the original lyric scribbles for 'The Fall' this week. I'm really excited about sharing my creative process with everyone, so expect lots more of this coming your way!
When the live session video is released I'll be sharing a lot more about the meaning behind this song and my musical inspirations as I was writing. Make sure you keep up to date with my Facebook page for more content like this...
On Saturday I travelled to Bainbridge in North Yorkshire for a gig with The Purest Green, a great function band from back home in Northumberland.
I've joined this band a fair few times for gigs, but it's been a long time since I was able to jump on stage with them so this was a really fun evening for us. Particularly wobbling around on stage (aka, the back of a lorry). The drive back to Northumberland that night wasn't quite as fun...
I ended my week with a return to home, and a slot at Simonside Country Show. I absolutely love coming back home, getting my wellies on, and most importantly..seeing my dog. The gig at Simonside was lovely and in such a gorgeous setting.
It's been a great week and I feel so excited about what's to come over the next few months. Soon I'll be in the studio recording my EP and I'll be documenting the whole process, so make sure you like my Facebook page or follow me on Instagram (@hannah_lamb_) so you can keep up with it all! You'll also see my live session video released very soon...
